PHOTOJOURNALISM
The following includes five of my best examples of photojournalism. All of these pictures will appear in the 2015-2016 Troy High yearbook. Click on any of the thumbnails to view the full picture along with my explanation of why it was chosen for my portfolio.
Color Guard pictures have always been a challenge for me - I have a hard time getting the flag in focus without losing the bright, crisp colors. I'm proud of this picture not only because of it's clear focus, but also because of the way the flag frames the dancer and the performers playing behind her.
This picture is one of my all time favorites. I'm proud of my use of the rule of thirds, the depth of field, and the way the background contributes to the rest of the photo. I also really like the way the field is reflected in the horn of the sousaphone.
I really like the depth of field in this picture, and the way it draws the focus directly to the student.
A jumping action shot is something I've tried to get for a long time, and I was incredibly excited when I finally managed it with this photo. A jumping action shot is something I've tried to get for a long time, and I was incredibly excited when I finally managed it with this photo.
This picture is one of my favorites because of the emotion it shows as well as the story it tells. Most homecoming king pictures feature the king and queen after receiving their crowns and standing together. Instead, this picture shows the homecoming king's reaction seconds after hearing the news, telling the story in a much more interesting way.
